Facial botox is the most frequently applied aesthetic procedure among the dermocosmetic applications we perform in our clinic. When facial botox is mentioned, the areas that are meant are mainly the forehead, between the eyebrows and crow’s feet.
Forehead lines are formed when the eyebrows are raised due to the activity of the frontal muscle. The lines between the eyebrows are lines that become evident with the contraction of 3 different muscles, which we call the glabellar complex, and the angry expression. Crow’s feet are expression lines that are mainly caused by laughing. We call the botox application applied to these three areas facial botox application.
What is Botox?
Botox has drug status and is used legally by physicians. Neurotoxin-A, which is the toxin of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, constitutes the ingredient of the drug. The medicine is stored in a cold chain. If it is prepared by diluting and is not administered within a short time after preparation, the effectiveness of the drug decreases. It is applied by physicians for different indications in the treatment of many diseases such as migraine, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), stomach botox, urinary incontinence-frequent urination, teeth clenching-grinding (bruxism) and cerebral palsy.
Apart from facial botox, its application areas for aesthetic purposes are very wide and other application areas include masseter, neck and décolleté botox.
